Ever thought to yourself: ‘What are energy drinks’? Or ‘how do energy drinks work?’
How to use a Shaker
(and keep it clean)
Picture this. You’ve got everything you need to get started with Sneak - your favourite flavour, your shaker and a thirst for a delicious beverage. The only thing standing between you and that sustained energy boost is knowing how to use a Sneak shaker.
Not to worry, we’ve got you. It’s all about getting the mix just right - maximising flavour and knowing the ins and outs of shaker care. Let’s dive into everything you need to know about how to use a shaker, how to clean a shaker and how to get the best taste possible.
What is a shaker?
Let’s start simple. What is a shaker? It’s your go-to equipment for blending your choice of Sneak Energy powder into a smooth, silky drink. A shaker typically features a grill or a mixing ball to help evenly distribute the powder with the water (or liquid of your choice).
We all know the struggle of mixing powder and liquid, but that’s not the case with Sneak. Our formula is irresistibly fine and our shakers make the ‘shaking’ effortless.
Plastic Shaker
The classic, lightweight option. The plastic shaker includes a grill to ensure that your Sneak powder mixes seamlessly with your drink. While most plastic shakers are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing to keep it in the best condition.
Metal Shaker
Sleek, durable, and built to last. The metal shaker doesn’t have a grill, but don't worry – Sneak powder mixes just as well without one, thanks to its fine consistency. This shaker isn’t dishwasher safe, so always hand wash it to keep it in great condition.
Tank Shaker (1L)
Go big or go home. The Tank is a beast of a shaker, perfect for those who want to stay energised all day. It holds a full litre of liquid and, like the metal version, has no grill. This one is also best hand washed.
Sneak tip: Leave the cap open, or take the lid off entirely when storing your shaker to prevent moisture buildup. This small habit can keep your shaker fresh and odour-free.
How to use a Sneak shaker
It might seem simple, but we promise there’s a method to the madness. Follow these steps to get the perfect Sneak taste every time:
- Add water or liquid of choice: Start by filling your shaker with water, or your preferred liquid, up to the marked line (usually around 300-400ml). Using cold water is always a good shout for a refreshing kick.
- Add Sneak powder: Measure out a scoop of Sneak powder and add it to your liquid. If you want to try new flavours, check out our single-serve energy drink sachets. Or, if you want something a little creamier, our energy shakes are perfect for a caffeinated milkshake vibe.
- Shake it up: Close the lid tightly (trust us, this is important), and give it a good shake. If you’ve got one of our classic plastic shakers, the grill will do its job, ensuring everything mixes smoothly. Even with the Tank or Metal versions, our finely ground powder means no lumps (because no one wants that).
- Enjoy: Once you've shaken it up, crack it open and enjoy that perfectly blended Sneak energy buzz.
With our Sneak shakers, you don’t need to worry about lumps or residue. With a good shake and our silky smooth powders, you can count on a clump-free drink every time.
How to clean a shaker bottle (& keep it fresh)
We all know that leaving anything unwashed for long is gross. So, if you listen to one piece of advice from us, let it be that you should clean your shaker bottle right away once your beverage has been slurped up.
An unwashed shaker bottle is the ideal environment for bacteria to grow. If you don’t properly maintain your bottle, all the benefits of Sneak (unlike the remnants of your drink) will go down the drain. So, here’s how to stay on top of shaker hygiene:
- Rinse Immediately: As soon as you're done with your drink, give the shaker a rinse with warm water. This prevents powder residue from sticking to the inside.
- Deep Clean: To clean properly, take the shaker apart (lid, cap, and grill). Wash each part with warm, soapy water. Don’t forget to scrub the corners and the threads of the lid.
- Dishwasher Care: Most plastic shakers are dishwasher safe – except for the clear ones – but hand washing is still highly recommended to keep it looking brand new. Remember, Metal and Tank shakers are not dishwasher safe, so always hand wash them.
- Dry Completely: After washing, allow your shaker to air dry completely before replacing the lid. This prevents moisture from lingering inside, which can lead to unpleasant odours.
Sneak tip: The shaker grill is probably one of the hardest bits to clean, so leave it to soak in hot and soapy water if you can. Clean all of the nooks and crannies with a sponge for a sparkling clean.
How to remove smell from shaker
If your shaker starts to smell a little funky, don’t worry – it happens to the best of us. Here’s how to handle it:
- Baking soda and vinegar: Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a splash of vinegar and let it sit in the shaker for a few hours before rinsing.
- Lemon juice: For a natural alternative, lemon juice works wonders at neutralising odours.
Sneak tip: There’s a famous sterilising liquid that lots of our community members use to keep their shakers fresh and stop them from becoming discoloured over time. We’re not going to push it directly, but it begins with M and rhymes with ‘Hiltons’. Google is your friend.
Are plastic shaker bottles safe?
Absolutely. Sneak plastic shakers are BPA-free, ensuring that no harmful chemicals leach into your drink. This makes them completely safe for daily use. Plus, with their lightweight design, they’re perfect for any activity - whether you're hitting the gym or gaming hard.
